I know, I know, the title…..it’s terrible right? I would never have picked up this book, except the author is Fredrik Backman. He wrote a Man Called Ove (see review below). I loved that book so much that I would have picked up any book with his name on the cover; I don’t care what it’s called! So this book is about a seven year old girl Elsa who is…..different. Different is bad when you’re seven because it means all the other kids at school chase you and beat you up and leave mean notes in your locker. Her only friend is her grandmother. She and her grandmother speak to each other in a secret language and her grandmother tells her amazing fairy tales. When her grandmother dies of cancer, she thinks she’s lost her only friend in the world. In actuality, it’s just the beginning of a huge adventure because granny left her a treasure hunt that will change everything.
