These are the first two books of the series. James wakes up in an elevator that is rising for what seems like hours with absolutely no memory of how he got there are where he is. When the doors finally open he is in a giant glade surrounded by huge stone walls. What is outside of the walls is a maze that changes nightly. The people who are in the glade have to solve the maze if they ever want to leave the glade. Very interesting!! I can’t go into the scorch trials without giving away the ending to the Maze Runner, so I’ll just say that you should read this series if you love adventure and mystery.
This book is written by the same author as “The Book Thief.” Zusak writes beautifully and the story is captivating. Ed Kennedy is a loser in life until he unwittingly stops a bank robbery one day. A few days later he gets a playing card in the mail with a cryptic message written on it. He’s not sure what it means, who it’s from, or what he’s supposed to do. Once he figures it out though, he embarks on an adventure that will change his life, and the life of those around him forever. It’s not as good as the Book Thief, but still worth reading. ***Adult Content and Language***
This is the true story of a man who was raised by a single mom in the poorest circumstances imaginable. Through hard work and faith in God, however, he became a world renown neurosurgeon. Beautiful and inspiring.
